Netherlands, May 9th-13th 2011.

G2G-project Serbia - Netherlands - Implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive in Serbia

Representative of the Institute, Tamara Zelenovic Vasiljevic, participated in study visit of Serbian delegation to Holland.

The visit was organized as a part G2G Project Serbia-Netherlands.

During the visit, participants were informed about experiences of the Netherlands regarding aplication of European Water Framework Directive as well as water and soil preservation.

Tuesday, May 10

Presentation about bank filtration, protection of source, monitoring strategy and approach of ‘dossiers for the area’. Harrie Timmer (Oasen) and Susanne Wuijts (RIVM)

Wednesday, May 11
Entire day organised by Waterboard Vallei & Eem (Rob Gerritsen)
9:00 Visit of Urban Waste Water Treatment Plant Nijkerk
Visit of pumping-station ‘Hertog Reijnoud’ (old station and new station)
Presentation about water quantity management in polder, including technical equipment and banks.
Presentation about Good Ecological Potential in the Arkervaart (water into which the treatment plant discharges); role of agriculture, water quantity management en technical maintenance.
Excursion to the fish stairs in the ‘Barneveldse beek’ with automatic dam.
Excursion to the Esvelderbeek (where hydromorphological measures were taken) and a chicken farm.

Thursday, May 12
Entire day organized by Manon Zwart, RIVM about groundwater.

Monitoring
Dutch monitoring network for groundwater
Quantity of groundwater, effects of lowering groundwater tables on ecosystems
13:30 Presentations about:
Effects of agriculture on grondwater quality
Dutch monitoring network for determing effects of agrucultural policy

Relationship between research and policy

Later: excursion to Westbroek
explanation of peat area, interactions of groundwater with surface water, controlling water table

Friday, May 13
Entire day organised by Waterboard Groot Salland (Keimpe Sinnema)
10:30 Welcome at main office of waterboard (Zwolle)
Excursion to SLIK, small plant to treat hospital waste water
Excursion to Kampen, visit of flexible flood-control dam
Visit to museum; part of this museum is maintained by waterboard
Excursion in museum by guide from Tourist Information
Presentation about organisation of water management in the Netherlands (mangemanent, legislation, money, cooperation between authorities)
